Calgary Cinematheque Casino 2026

Calgary Cinematheque's casino takes place on Thursday March 26 & Friday March 27, at Pure Casino Calgary (1420 MERIDIAN RD NE). As a non-profit, we depend on charitable casino events to help fund our programming. These events require about 38 volunteer shifts (during day and night) to be filled before the organization can receive funding. We are also looking for backups for each shift, to be called in the event of an absence. 

You can sign up for one of these shifts below. If you volunteer, not only will you be helping us foster cinema culture in Calgary, you will also receive a free meal, snacks, and a taxi ride to & from the casino (if needed). Training is provided, so no experience is necessary. Volunteers must be 18+.

Overview of Casino Positions:

  • General Manager (key position): Responsible for the overall continuity of the casino. Makes sure all volunteer staff arrive and if not, has access to reliable back-up volunteer phone numbers. Some data entry experience is required. Can fill in for any volunteer positions for a short period of time if needed.

  • Banker (key position): In control of the cash and chip inventories. This position is mostly data entry.

  • Cashier (key position): Redeems players’ chips for cash. Little data entry required.

  • Chiprunner: Delivers chips from the Banker to the game tables as required. Will count chips with the gaming floor staff as required. A fair amount of data entry is required.

  • Countroom General Manager (key position): Same as general manager duties above, but specifically fills in for the countroom shifts.

  • Countroom Supervisor (key position): The count room supervisor is responsible for all count room staff and procedures. The count room supervisor reports to the general manager, and works with the general manager and banker.

  • Countroom Staff: Will sort and use money counting machines to count money. Some data entry required.
