The Gold Rush (1925) with Live Score

  • Plaza Theatre 133 Kensington Road Northwest Calgary, AB, T2N 3P4 Canada (map)

The Calgary Cinematheque is excited to present this masterpiece of physical comedy with a live score by Icarus 3.

Directed by Charlie Chaplin | United States | 95 mins

Charlie Chaplin believed that tragedy and comedy were not far removed, and so sought inspiration in tales of deprivation and horror from the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890s for this silent comedy classic. Written, directed, and produced by Chaplin for United Artists, The Gold Rush stars his famous Little Tramp character as he braves sickness, hunger, and other adversities in his quest for riches. Critically acclaimed upon release, The Gold Rush was the film Chaplin himself said he wanted to be remembered for.

Written by Ben Rowe.
