Directed by Steven Spielberg | United States | 95 mins
Originally a TV movie, Steven Spielberg’s instant-classic actioner is too good to watch on the small screen. Dennis Weaver plays the ultimate everyman who, on a business trip, meets the ultimate psycho. A crazed, barely glimpsed truck driver driving a demonic, chugging oil tanker. The big rig begins to torment Weaver on the open road, driving the already stressed businessman to the breaking point. Spielberg’s first “monster movie” and even horror film, features all his signature pop Hollywood brilliance. With a screenplay by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend), Duel is a legendary, taut, gripping battle between Man and Machine, and brought Spielberg to the immediate attention of Hollywood.
Rating: PG.
